Ben is my Polish Arabian. Bought at a horse auction for $50, Ben has turned out to be one heck of a great horse. Originally he was bought by Marge Schermain, who brought him out of his shell from abuse. From Marge, he was sold to my friend April and her daughter Bonnie Rhodes. Ben was a good horse but was a bit much for April, and she sold him to me. Ben has a gait as smooth as glass, and he's a super gentle boy. Nowdays, due to his age, Ben is being leased by a friend in Hand in Paw, who is much smaller than I am. This has been allowing him to be able to be enjoyed, and for him to continue on his advantures, which he so loves.
I'm sorry to say that his papers were lost in the mail and the Arabian Registry wanted $500 to get his papers. Though Ben IS registered with the Arabian Registry, I was not willing to pay $500 for a gelded horse who was never going to leave me, for a piece of paper. They can keep it.
This is what I can remember of his pedigree is that his sire or sires-sire was Bask himself. He traces back to Khemosabi, Aladdin, Bay el Bey, Muscat, and on back there, Raffles. Yes, it is sad that an Arabian of his bloodline was at an auction, selling for $50... we outbid meat buyers for him too! He had a broke shoulder and broke foreleg, and a horrid case of worms. He was a true rescue in every way.
